SMS Privacy Policy

We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy details how we collect, use, and protect your personal data when you engage with our SMS messaging services.

Effective Date: July 16, 2025

1. Introduction

This SMS Privacy Policy explains how Edvise ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, shares, and protects the personal information you provide when you opt into our SMS messaging program ("Service"). We use trusted service providers, like Twilio, to deliver our SMS messages. This policy is designed to meet legal requirements and build trust with our community.

By opting into our Service, you consent to the data practices described in this statement.

2. How We Obtain Your Consent (Opt-In)

Your consent is our top priority. You can provide your consent to receive SMS messages from us through one of the following methods:

  • Keyword Opt-In: Texting a specific keyword (e.g., JOIN, START) to our designated phone number.
  • Web Forms: Submitting a form on our website where you voluntarily provide your phone number and check a box explicitly agreeing to receive SMS messages. The form will state:“By checking this box, you consent to receive text messages from Edvise. Message and data rates may apply. You can reply STOP to unsubscribe at any time.”

By opting in, you agree to receive transactional, informational, and/or promotional text messages from us.

3. What Information We Collect

We collect the following personal information to provide our SMS Service:

  • Phone Number: We collect your mobile phone number when you opt into our Service.
  • Identifying Information: We may also collect your name or other identifiers you provide on our web forms.
  • Message and Interaction Data: This includes the content of messages you send to us (e.g., HELP, STOP), as well as data about the messages we send to you, such as delivery status and link engagement.

4. How We Use Your Information (Purpose of Data)

We use the data we collect for specific, transparent purposes:

  • To Send Messages: We use your phone number to deliver the messages you have consented to receive, which may include important alerts, service updates, and event notifications.
  • For Promotional Messages: If you have provided explicit consent, we may send you promotional updates or marketing messages. You will always have the option to opt-out of these communications.
  • To Provide Support: We use your messages and interaction data to respond to your requests for help, process opt-out requests, and manage our Service effectively.
  • To Improve Our Service: We analyze metadata (e.g., delivery rates) to monitor and enhance the performance of our messaging campaigns.

5. Data Security and Retention

5.1. Security Measures

We are committed to protecting your data. We employ robust technical and organizational security measures, including encryption, access controls, and secure data storage solutions provided by us and our service providers, to safeguard your personal information against unauthorized access, disclosure, or misuse.

5.2. Data Retention and Deletion

We retain your personal information only for as long as needed to fulfill the purposes outlined in this policy or to comply with legal obligations. Your phone number is retained as long as you are subscribed to our Service. If you opt out, we will take steps to securely delete or anonymize your information within a reasonable time, unless we are legally required to retain it.

6. Data Sharing (Non-Sharing Clause)

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for their own marketing purposes.

We may share your information with trusted third-party service providers (such as our SMS platform, Twilio) solely for the purpose of operating our Service. These providers are contractually obligated to protect your data and are not permitted to use it for any other purpose. We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect our rights and safety.

7. Your Right to Opt-Out

You have the right to stop receiving SMS messages from us at any time. To opt-out, simply reply with the keyword STOP to any message you receive from us.

After you send the STOP message, we will send you one final confirmation message to confirm that you have been unsubscribed. You will no longer receive SMS messages from us after that. If you wish to join again, you can opt-in using the same methods described in Section 2.

For assistance, you may reply HELP to any message or contact us directly.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this SMS Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal reasons. We will post any updates on our website and indicate the "Effective Date" of the new policy. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
